The temple was formed from the second half of the 12th century through actions in the 13th, 14th, 15th, 16th, 17th and 18th centuries. It has a plan with three naves divided into six sections, with a five-sided polygonal apse. The slender late Romanesque tower stands out in its structure.
he factory was built with limestone extracted from nearby quarries. It was built and modified over the centuries, beginning in the 12th century and ending with the addition of the 18th century Baroque chapel, without counting the latest restoration works in 1986. There is written knowledge of almost all the works carried out, either on the completion of the main parts or on expansion and reform.
Its plant consists of three ships that are divided into six sections. The central nave is the oldest (from the late 12th and early 13th centuries) and is wider than the lateral ones; It is covered with a pointed barrel vault. Its head is from the first years of the XIII, with a Gothic structure; It was covered in the 13th century with a Gothic tracery vault, with the Téllez de Meneses family being tenants of the town and castle. It ends with a five-sided polygonal apse, protected on the outside by buttresses arranged on the edges of each side. The separation of the naves is achieved with formero arches, pointed on the north side and semicircular on the south side. The supporting pillars are prismatic on the south side and compound, supported on a circular podium, on the north side.3? At the end of the 13th century and the beginning of the 14th century, the side naves were closed with simple ribbed vaults between the transverse arches whose ribs are supported by corbels decorated with heads and other figures. It was then that the side walls were raised higher, conditioning an open gallery with studs that hold and raise the roof, allowing the vaults to be ventilated.
