Ribe Kunstmuseum åbnede i 1891.

Ribe Art Museum opened in 1891. The museum is located in a listed villa which previously housed Ribe's richest man, the industrialist Balthazar Giørtz. A wall and a pavilion in the museum garden are also protected.

The red-painted building was designed by the architect L.A. Winstrup and was completed in 1864. The house was so impressive that the inhabitants of Ribe called it "the castle".
The red main building with the black roof is a long building with several exciting details. Black, arched windows, roof trusses, white markings and patterns in several places on the building. The black entrance door is highlighted with a triangular top in which is a mercury head.
Behind the house there is a red wall along the entire garden. At the end of the garden, by the Ribe river, there is an octagonal pavilion. This is also protected.
Buildings and wall are listed in 1977.
