The First National Bank of Cooperstown was founded in 1830. The bank building was built in the Romanesque style in 1890-1891. The building is a contributing structure to the Cooperstown Historic District - National Register of Historic Places.

In 1974 the First National Bank of Cooperstown was acquire by the Bankers Trust Company of Albany and became inactive as of November 29, 1974. The building now houses the Heroes of Baseball Wax Museum and Gift Shop and the Hardball Cafe.
