The first Methodist services were held in 1828 in local homes. The Methodist built their church in 1848 to a design by John H.Fisher in the Greek Revival style.

The single story building has a central, red, double door, entrance pavilion is flanked by two Doric piasters on each side. Above is a pediment with a central fanlight. Each side of the pavilion has a single 2 by 5 pane window.

Rising from the gable roof of the main block is a two stage tower. The lower stage is a square tower and the upper stage is a belfry with rectangular louvered windows. The sides of the church are three bays deep. Each bay has a tall 4 by 10 pane window.
