The entrance gate at the coordinates of 29.39024 -98.55240 may be the easiest point of entry to use in getting to this World War 2 Memorial. Look for the flag pole with the two 57 mm cannons at its base. It is on the far side of the cemetery from the entrance, so a landmark like a flag pole will be helpful in choosing your path. Once there, please remember to be respectful of both the memorial itself and of the veteran's graves in this area.

This World War 2 Memorial has a large brown granite bolder in front of a 3-bladed airplane propeller set in the concrete pad on which the memorial is placed. The flag pole stands in the center of the concrete pad. Two 57 mm cannons are arranged on the right and left of the pole, propeller and rock. The large bolder has a large part of it cut open to be a flat surface on which is engraved the history of the two howitzers and when this group of World War 2 equipment were collectively dedicated as a World War 2 memorial.

The text engraved in the bolder reads as follows:

"These two 57 m/m guns were donated by the Ordinance Department of the United States Army, to be placed in the veteran's section of Roselawn Memorial Park. The gun on the left was active in the European Theater, while the gun on the right we effective in the Pacific Theater. Both of these guns did their part to bring our enemies to their knees. These pieces were officially dedicated as World War II memorials on Decoration Day, May 30th, 1946 A. D.
VICTORY -- PEACE"

This war memorial was created and dedicated within a year of the end of World War 2. Stand here and imagine how the cemetery looked 77+ years ago, how many fewer graves there were then and how significant the cluster of WW2 veteran's graves nearby this memorial meant to the local friends and family who came here to remember the sacrifice of life that took place to achieve a world at peace. Let us not forget!
