We came here looking for a geocache and discovered that this little brick church and the interesting old cemetery were on the National Historical Register. Many of the stones in the cemetery, some of them large and ornate, date from the mid and late 1800s but there are also more recent ones. Many of the first settlers of this region are buried here. There's a good view of downtown Murphy and Cherokee County's marble courthouse, which is also on the Historical Registry. A plaque over the chapel door commemorates Joshua Harshaw's donation of the building to the Methodist Church on May 1,1889
