El escultor mexicano Jorge Marín presentó, en el marco del Día Internacional de la Paz, su nueva escultura, “Alas de Paz”, hecha con 3 toneladas de armas destruidas entregadas en el programa de desarme voluntario del Gobierno capitalino.
La escultura está ubicada en la Avenida Juárez, frente la Plaza Solidaridad, pero será itinerante en la Ciudad de México;. fue presentada durante la clausura del foro Alcaldes por la Paz por Miguel Ángel Mancera, jefe de gobierno de la CDMX.
“Las alas que ustedes ven allá abajo tienen un gran contenido artístico y me decía mucha gente: ‘son muy poderosas’. Se sienten muy fuerte, así son los trabajos del maestro Marín, que además hizo estas alas de manera gratuita”, afirmó Mancera.

“En este momento presentamos la escultura Alas de Paz en La Alameda, en el centro de la Ciudad de México.
Con el objetivo de promover la cultura de paz fui convocado por las autoridades de la Ciudad de México para realizar esta obra que esta conformada por armas recabadas en el Programa de Desarme Voluntario, que efectúa el gobierno de la capital.
Hoy, en el Día Internacional de la Paz, las Alas reafirman la posibilidad diaria que tenemos para construir una sociedad en armonía, como el Ave Fénix que entre las llamas resurge de sus propias cenizas y se constituye como un nuevo ser”.
