100 years later, for the Centennial of the Province of Saskatchewan, these gardens were dedicated by Queen Elizabeth II on the grounds of the Saskatchewan Provincial Capitol Building in Regina, Saskatchewan.
The City of Regina was named for Elizabeth's great great grandmother Queen Victoria, and to reach the provincial capital from downtown Regina you must go down the Albert Memorial Bridge, named for Queen Victoria's beloved husband Prince Albert.
So for Queen Elizabeth II, her visit to this beautiful garden was almost like a family reunion.
The Saskatchewan Provincial Coat of Arms is located at the top of the garden's dedication plaque, and beneath it the official royal emblem commemorating Queen Elizabeth II's 50th anniversary of succession to the throne.
