Although the Ruiz-Herrera Cemetery is a historic cemetery and has a Texas historical marker stating two signers of the Texas declaration of independence from Mexico are buried here, this cemetery is pretty tricky to get to. Use of a GPS system to guide you most of the way is recommended. It is the last turn that is problematic. Follow GPS instructions to get from IH-35 to Quesenberry Road and drive ALMOST to the end of the Quesenberry Road, but be looking for a road on the right side, just past a house that is on the right, and turn right onto the road labeled "Ruiz-Herrera Cemetery Road". This Ruiz-Herrera Cemetery Road will take you around a field and directly to the entrance to the cemetery.
If you continue on instead of turning as instructed, you will reach a dead end. Do NOT turn right between the two large white pillars that are at the end of the road. It will NOT lead to the cemetery. It is the driveway to the private house set back from the road and you do NOT want to go there!!

The Woodmen of the World monument is the classic tree design with the Woodmen of the World logo at the top portion of the monument. In the center area, is a large scroll containing text stating the name of person buried and their birth and death dates. The base of this stone tree is carved a solitary flower in full bloom.

The engraved text on the shield reads as follows:

Antonio
Casias
May 28, a868
Nov. 16, 1913
Was the inscription legible?: Yes
