A four-sided metal truss tower is all that remains of a round-about ride at the former Rocky Point amusement park in Warwick, Rhode Island. One of several around the revitalized state park, there is an historical marker by the base's north face.

A four-sided metal truss tower is all that remains of a round-about ride on top of a hill at the north end of the former
Rocky Point amusement park midway. The popular fairground destination in Warwick, Rhode Island, was operational from the 1840s to 1995. Opened to the public again since 2014 following property revitalization and now a free
state park, visitors can explore a few remaining but defunct elements, and find an historical marker by the base's north face which reads:
The Circle Swing
On September 11, 1906, Harry G. Travor submitted a patent application for a roundabout that operated as a centrifugal swing with suspended seats. This patent detailed the historic Rocky Point ride known to generations of park enthusiasts as the Circle Swing. Prior to the swing's retirement in the mid-1960s, it was retrofitted and repurposed into other notable rides such as the Seaplane Deluxe and the Rocket.
FUN FACT: The Park also had a similar swing that was suspended over the water in the vicinity of the pool.
A large, hand-colored vintage photograph fills the left half of the plaque. It shows a clear daytime view of amusement park visitors on the ride and a number other people walking about the area. The image appears to be post card enlargement with simple text superimposed at the upper left corner: "The Circle Swing | Rocky Point, R.I." A simple caption below dates it 1908-1920.
