The Moses Camp House was built in ca. 1840 by Moses Camp (1803-1875) in the Greek Revival style. Camp owned a dry goods and grocery store as well as the Union Chair Company. He also was the Town Clerk, Representative of the General Assembly, and President of the Winsted Savings Bank.
The two story high building is a well preserved example of the Greek Revival style. The home is five bays wide with a central portico entrance. The flat roof above the entrance is supported by two Ionic columns. On each side of the entrance are a pair of 3 by 4 double hung windows with black shutters. The second level contains five matching windows. Below the roof-line are five clerestory windows. The west side of the front has a recessed auxiliary entrance and a rectangular window above. .
The south side of the building is four bays deep. There are 3 by 4 double hung windows with black shutters at the first, third and fourth bay. The second bay is windowless. The north side has windows only at the third bay. The rear of the building has an extension. A two car garage has been added to the southeast corner of the building.
The Moses Camp House was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1984. Currently the building is being used as a law office.
