According to the Girl Scouts of Orange County 2017-2018 yearbook (p11):
"Nisha created a week long STEM Camp in order to address the lack of exposure to practical applications of STEM in her community for elementary aged students. Because children are constantly bombarded with technology in every aspect of their lives, she sought to provide an outlet for them to use their STEM knowledge to inspire positive change—by coding apps to help the community. Collaborating with a local Fullerton school district and a Computer Science major from UCLA, Nisha hosted the camp with a team of high school students to assist her and who will continue to conduct this camp annually."

Nisha Desai explains her project as follows:
"For the Gold Award, I conducted a summer camp to teach basic coding to elementary students. I helped them create an app to raise awareness about an issue they were passionate about in the community (healthy eating, light pollution, etc.)"
