Cosmetically restored wooden standard cupola caboose in the fanciful livery of Texas & New Orleans Railroad 317.
The caboose's markings indicate it was built in 1940, however an affixed information marker indicate that it was actually built in 1942 and entered service as SP 347. On integration of T&NO into SP in 1961, remaining cabooses of this class were stored and given unassigned T&NO numbers between 314 and 373.
The caboose was acquired by the Galveston Railroad Museum in the late 1980's then sent to Texas City, TX on loan in 1996. In 2016 the caboose was returned to the Museum.
Of note is the lack of windows. These have been slatted over.
Current Use: Museum display
 Type Of Caboose: Cupola, "Standard"
