This marker is found along the Can-Am highway (Hwy 85) and State Hwy 66. It commemorates the historic Fort Lupton of which a reconstruction is about 1/4 mile away.

The marker reads:

Established in 1836 by
Lieut. Lancaster P. Lupton
A rendezvous of the early fur trappers
visited by Fremont and Kit Carson in 1843
