The Elm Street Bridge is an abandoned Pratt through truss bridge originally constructed in 1889 by the New Jersey Steel & Iron Co. for the New Haven & Northampton/New York, New Haven, & Hartford Canal Line and later used by the Penn Central Railroad. It was abandoned in 1976 and once again was put into service in the 1990s by the by the Pioneer Valley Railroad. It was abandoned once more and now is being repurposed to be part of the Columbia Greenway Rail-Trail to serve bicyclists and pedestrians. Completion of the conversion to a rail-trail bridge is scheduled for April 6, 2023.
