[ES] El perro Paco fue un perro callejero de color negro, muy famoso y querido en el Madrid de finales del siglo XIX. Paco se “colaba“ en los cafés y teatros de la capital, como el Café de Fornos, y la gente siempre le hacía carantoñas y le daban comida… Tanto fue así que terminó siendo adoptado por todos los madrileños. ¡Incluso su día a día aparece reseñado en muchas crónicas de la época!
Sin embargo, Paco tuvo un trágico final ya que en junio de 1882, murió tras recibir la estocada de un novillero después de haber saltado a la arena en la Plaza de Toros.
El animal fue disecado y se mostró durante un tiempo en un café de la calle de Alcalá antes de ser enterrado. Algunos dicen que en el Retiro, otros que en El Pardo. Lo cierto es que sus restos de perdieron para siempre. Esta es la historia del perro Paco, y su trágico final, al que ahora una escultura, realizada por Rodrigo Romero, recuerda en el corazón de Madrid.

[EN] Paco the dog was a black stray dog, very famous and loved in Madrid at the end of the 19th century. Paco "sneaked" into the cafes and theaters of the capital, such as Café de Fornos, and people always made love to him and gave him food... So much so that he ended up being adopted by all the people of Madrid. Even his day-to-day life appears reviewed in many chronicles of the time!
However, Paco had a tragic end because in June 1882, he died after being stabbed by a bullfighter after jumping into the arena in the Plaza de Toros.
