This sluice gate on the Auldyn River in Glen Auldyn once allowed water to flow to building on the opposite side of the B16 minor road. It is located immediately upstream of a weir on the river which creates a small pond in order to supply the diversion.

Today the building to which the diversion was directed is a domestic residence but, in the past, it may well have been a farmstead or a mill for producing bread flour.
