The huge granite Voortrekker Monument is built on a hill and can be seen from all sides of Pretoria. It is a memorial to the northward migration of Voortrekkers from the Cape Colony into the interior of modern South Africa between 1835 and 1854.

At the top of the monument, there are orientation tables and a beautiful view of Pretoria which serves as the seat of the executive branch of government and host to all foreign embassies in South Africa.
The orientation tables in my photo gallery show the view of the east and north panoramas of Pretoria.
Note: There are 299 granite steps to climb to get to the Voortrekker Monument.
