The manufacture of paper was a major industry when this stamp was issued in 1937 and still is today. The Corner Brook Pulp and Paper Ltd is located in the center of the picture. The inscription on the stamp CORNER BROOK PAPER MILLS pays tribute to the Newfoundland paper mill industry in general.

In addition to the paper mill, the view from Captain James Cook National Historic Site includes the City of Corner Brook, the Bay of Islands, and the surrounding mountains.

The pictorial stamp was issued by Newfoundland on May 12, 1937.
