This very popular cross country ski trailhead is located in the Bitterroot National Forest, very close to the Continetal Divide and the borders of tehhe US States of Idaho and Montana.

"Chief Joseph Cross Country Ski Trail
The Chief Joseph Cross Country Ski Trail is a multi-loop system which begins on the north side of Highway 43 at Chief Joseph Pass.
General Information
Parking:
There is a plowed parking area for 55-60 vehicles.
Directions:
From Wisdom take Highway 43 West for 25 miles to the Chief Joseph Pass parking area.
General Notes:
Maps are available at the trailhead.
The trail system is groomed weekly by Bitterroot Ski Club.
There is a warming hut open from December 1 - mid April."

Chief Joseph Cross Country Ski Trail is groomed weekly. Eight loop trails which provide a variety of lengths and skill levels. Trail system starts on north side of Highway 43 at Chief Joseph Pass. Plowed parking for 55 to 60 vehicles. Toilet and maps available at trailhead. Groomed by Bitterroot Cross Country Ski Club. Pets are not allowed on this trail. The warming hut is open December 1 - Mid-April.
Length: 24.6 km; 8 km of easiest, 14.5 km of more difficult and 2.1 km of most difficult trail
