The bottom part Bermuda $10 banknote has two identified images. The bottom image is the Deliverance, a ship built in Bermuda by survivors of the Sea Venture which was wrecked in 1609. The other image is the Commissioner's House, now the home of the Bermuda National Museum.
Commissioner’s House was built in 1827 at the Keep of Royal Navy Dockyards. Its originally it was the quarters and offices for the resident Commissioner of the Dockyard. Later it was used as a barracks for the British Army. During World War II it served as the the Royal Marine barracks and Allied headquarters for submarine detection.
When Royal Navy Dockyard was abandoned in 1951, Commissioner’s House was vacant until 1975 when it began its transformation into the Bermuda Maritime Museum which reopen in 2000. Today the Commissioner’s House is museum of Bermuda’s history and heritage.
