St Mary's Cathedral, Gqeberha is a religious building that is affiliated with the Anglican Church of South Africa. It serves as the main church and seat of the Diocese of Port Elizabeth which was created in 1970.
When I took the photo of this slender spire, I thought it belonged to a very small church until, to write this waymark, I researched the church and found that it was only a small part of the cathedral whose entrance is on another side of the building. I found on one of my other photos the real entrance to the cathedral. (my last photo)
