The Caminito del Rey is a step built into the walls of the Gaitanes gorge, between the municipalities of Ardales, Álora and Antequera, in the province of Málaga, autonomous community of Andalusia, Spain. It is a pedestrian walkway of more than three kilometers (in addition to 4.8 kilometers of access), attached to the rock inside a canyon, with sections barely one meter wide, hanging up to 105 meters above sea level. the river, in walls that become vertical.

In 1999 and 2000, there were two fatal accidents that cost the lives of four hikers and led the Junta de Andalucía, in 2001, to close the accesses to the path, demolishing its initial section. This measure failed to stop hikers, who kept finding a way to access it by climbing. They also decreed a fine of €6,000 for traveling both on the closed road, as well as on the train tracks and tunnels through which you can return from the Caminito.
