"The shield head is split by a blue wavy bar. In the right part of the shield on a golden background a red tin tower with three black windows, in the left part of the shield on a silver background a red cross.

The blue wavy bar in the middle represents the course of the Saar River, on which the district of Staadt is located and whose place name is closely connected with the Saar River. The tower refers to the place name Kastel, which is located on a rocky plateau. Celts and Romans had their camps here. Franciscans built a hermit's dwelling driven into the rock and a small chapel of the cross on steep rock. Prussian King Friedrich-Wilhelm IV had his master builder Friedrich von Schinkel build the Church of the Holy Sepulchre for the blind King John of Bohemia on this scenic spot. Both places belonged to the Electorate of Trier as municipalities in the Saarburg district, hence the coat of arms of the Electorate of Trier in the left part of the shield."
