[EN] The Building
In 1993, town hall was completed for the 550th anniversary of the city of Naantali. It was inaugurated by the Minister of the Interior, Mauri Pekkarinen. The work that won the architecture competition in 1990 is called Kellopeli Appelsiini (Clockwork Orange). Whether that refers to Stanley Kubrick's famous film is unknown.
The town hall is made of black granite and has large glass surfaces. Steel vertical slats and canopies. In the middle of the frontside is the coat of arms of Naantali. The coat of arms has the letters VG, which comes from the Latin words "Vallis gratiae."
City of Naantali
The city of Naantali was founded as early as 1443. It was founded by King Christopher the Bavarian. There are about 20,000 inhabitants. The municipality number of Naantali in Finland is 529. That number is carefully taught to children in Naantali schools. Naantali has grown as a city through several municipal mergers.
Naantali is especially known for its Moomin world, which brings tourists from all over the world in the summer. The city's old center is also a popular tourist destination. It is possible to travel there by steamboat from Turku. Naantali spa has been a popular spa all year round. Kultaranta, the summer residence of the president of the republic, is located in Naantali.
Some details
The town hall is located on the edge of the marketsquare, which is also called Toripuisto. Unfortunately, there is not much sales activity at the market and many city dwellers prefer to shop in large shopping centers. The city council meets in this town hall building. The council consists of 43 councilors. In front of the town hall is a cube with a net. It has often been mistaken for a work of art, but it is a place for children to climb. There is a trampoline on the ground next to it. It can be used by city councilors in addition to children.

Vuonna 1993 valmistui Naantalin kaupungin 550 vuotisjuhliin. Sen vihki käyttöön sisäministeri Mauri Pekkarinen. Arkkitehtuurikilpailun vuonna 1990 voittanut työ on nimeltään Kellopeli Appelsiini. Viittaako tuo Stanley Kubrickin elokuvaan, ei tiedetä.
Kaupungintalo on mustaa graniittia ja siinä on suuret lasipinnat. Teräksiset pystylamellit ja katokset. Keskellä etuosaa on Naantalin vaakuna. Vaakunassa on kirjaimet VG, joka tulee latinan kielen sanoista "Vallis gratiae."
Naantalin kaupunki
Naantalin kaupunki on perustettu jo vuonna 1443. Sen perusti Kuningas Christopher Baijerilainen. Siellä on noin 20000 asukasta. Naantalin kuntanumero Suomessa on 529. Tuo numero opetetaan tarkoin lapsille Naantalin kouluissa. Naantali on kaupunkina kasvanut useiden kuntaliitosten myötä.
Naantali tunnetaan erityisesti sen Muumi maailmasta, joka tuo kesäisin turisteja ympäri maailmaa. Kaupungin vanha keskusta on myös suosittu matkailukohde. Sinne on mahdollista matkustaa höyrylaivalla Turusta. Naantalin kylpylä on ympäri vuoden ollut suosittu kylpylä. Naantalissa sijaitsee tasavallan presidentin kesäasunto Kultaranta.
Muuta triviaa
Kaupungintalo sijaitsee torin laidalla, jota kutsutaan myös Toripuistoksi. Valitettavasti torilla ei juurikaan ole myyntitoimintaa ja moni kaupunkilainen asioi mieluummin suurissa kauppakeskuksissa. Kaupunginvaltuusto kokoontuu tässä rakennuksessa. Valtuustoon kuuluu 43 valtuutettua. Kaupungintalon edessä on kuutio jossa on verkko. Sitä on monesti luultu taideteokseksi, mutta kyseessä on lasten kiipeilypaikka. Sen vieressä maassa on trampoliini. Sitä voi lasten lisäksi käyttää kaupunginvaltuutetut.
