The plaque says, "Paul Wilhelm lived in this grove from the 1930's until his death in 1994, except for brief periods while he left for school and as a recruit in the army. Initially residing in the palm log house, which he called the "Vagabond House", he later built a rustic cabin that overlooked his lake in the wash south of the Visitors Center. Several other structures existed at different times, including. Several huts for visitors and this outhouse, excavated in 2014 by volunteers."
