Philipsburg is a four-street runway, all less than a mile long, filled with vibrantly colored houses, shops, and restaurants, making the Dutch Side capital easy to explore. The main shopping district, Front Street, is in the heart of the city.

St. Maarten is popular for its beaches. The island’s rugged coastline features 37 beaches all around allowing you to enjoy year-round warm waters, ocean waves and sandy shores.

A must-visit is the city’s boardwalk which gives you access to dozens of shops, restaurants, and water sports along the coast. Here, visitors may stumble upon fun events, parties, or live performances that showcase the island’s Caribbean beat. A stroll through town will immerse you in the cool and friendly island lifestyle.

The Church of Saint-Martin de Tours on the Voorstraat (Front Street) has its origins in 1844 when the first stone of the temple was laid. In 1933 it raised the need for expansion and this was carried out and completed on May 30, 1952.

The Constitutional Court of Sint Maarten was established in 2010. Sint Maarten is the only country in the Kingdom of the Netherlands with a constitutional court.
