One Vanderbilt is a skyscraper in the center of Manhattan, in New York. It was proposed by Mayor Bill de Blasio as part of the East Midtown rehabilitation slowdown. It opened on September 15, 2020 and has a total height of 427 m, making it the fourth building after the Central Park Tower and 111 West 57th Street (both under construction).
History
In the early 2000s SL Green Realty began visiting Midtown Manhattan sites to build a new skyscraper. Although its construction was to begin in 2013, it was not until 2014 that a project was presented that took into account the needs of the residents of the area. In turn, a lawsuit by Grand Central Terminal over the air rights postponed the start of construction until 2017.
