What a fun way to honor a loved one by placing this fish sculpture at their final resting place. Fish Story is a wooden carving, placed at the graves of Unie and Cora Clymer. Although there is no obit or biography available for Unie, it is presumed that he was an avid fisherman.
The wooden carving of the fish is about 3' long and 4' high, and it is wearing a black hat and glasses. It is painted a blueish gray color, has whiskers and a large mouth, its tail upward. A small metal sign on the west side (the side viewers will visit the headstones) has an image of a fish being caught, and says: "Fish stories told here". I bet Umie had some fish stories to tell!
Inscriptions on the two individual headstones:
Unie
Mar. 21, 1903
July 13, 1994
Cora
Dec. 8, 1904
Dec. 31, 1989
Unie was born in Horse Cave, Kentucky, and Cora (a twin) was born in Savoy, Texas. She was one of twelve children.
