The bronze statue is almost a meter high. We can admire a miner with his shovel, his pickaxe and around his neck what can be a lamp. He wears large leather boots and a protective helmet.
Address by the President of the Republic Mr. Nicos Anastasiades at the unveiling of the Miner's Monument
It is truly with great emotion and joy that he attend this symbolic day of the world labour festival, the unveiling ceremony of the Miner's Monument.
Being in Amiantos today for the unveiling of the miner's monument, the government would like to stress that the asbestos mine area, which is an important part of the modern history of Cyprus and a unique monument of the industrial archaeological heritage of the place, should be fully exploited, within the framework of the National Strategy for the Development of Mountain Communities.
Two plates are erected beside the statue:
