This faded cut mark is at the base of the abutment of the railroad bridge. This part of the bridge is holding back the railway embankment rather than the bridge arch itself.

The railway line mainly carries freight and forms the northern boundary of Walton Colliery Country Park, formerly Sharlton West Coal Mine.

The line branches to the north west and passes through either Wakefeld Kirgate station or Mormanton station. Heading the other way the line passes through Fitwilliam station to the south east.

It bypasses part of another rail line on the southern boundary of the country park which connects Doncaster to Leeds via Wakefield Westgate station.

The bridge is number HPC/5 which indicates it is the 5th structure on the line between Hare Park Junction and Crofton Junction.

The track under the bridge connected the coal mine to Doncaster Road.
