EN: Stalden-Saas lies on the line of the Matterhorn-Gotthard Railway between Visp and Zermatt. The line was opened in 1891 and electrified in 1929.

The station is located in the middle of the village of Stalden. The station building consists of two two-story houses in a traditional chalet style, connected by a one-story middle section with a flat roof. Architecturally, this is not quite coherent; at least parts of this ensemble must be significantly younger than they pretend to be. I couldn't find any details about the building history, though.

Stalden is an important transportation hub, although there is only one railway line. But from here the valley branches off into the Matter valley with Zermatt and the Saas valley with the equally famous Saas-Fee. The communities on the plateaus to the east and west are also most easily reached via Stalden.

The station is served by passenger trains to Zermatt and Visp every half hour. The bus stop in front of the station is used by lines between Brig and Saas-Fee and to Törbel. An aerial cableway, located next to the tracks, connects Stalden with Staldenried and Gspoon.

Der Bahnhof befindet sich mitten im Dorf Stalden. Das Bahnhofsgebäude besteht aus zwei zweistöckigen Häusern in einem traditionellen Chalet-Stil, die durch einen einstöckigen Mittelteil mit Flachdach verbunden sind. Architektonisch ist das nicht ganz stimmig, zumindest Teile dieses Ensembles müssen bedeutend jünger sein, als sie vorgeben. Ich konnte aber keine Details über die Baugeschichte finden.

Stalden ist ein wichtiger Verkehrsknotenpunkt, obwohl es nur eine Bahnlinie gibt. Aber von hier zweigt das Tal in das Mattertal mit Zermatt und das Saas-Tal mit dem ebenso bekannten Saas-Fee. Auch die Gemeinden auf den Hochebenen im Osten und Westen werden am einfachsten über Stalden erreicht.

Der Bahnhof wird im Halbstundentakt von Personenzügen nach Zermatt und Visp bedient. Auf der Bushaltestelle vor dem Bahnhof verkehren die Linien zwischen Brig und Saas-Fee und nach Törbel. Eine Luftseilbahn, die sich direkt neben den Geleisen befindet, verbintet Stalden mit Staldenried und Gspoon.
