This academic Baroque-style church was completed in 1697. In 1724 the bell tower was attached to it, completing the ensemble, which stands out for being one of the few in the world that includes representations of the three archangels, including Saint Michael, patron saint of Nerja. .

It has three naves, separated by pillars and semicircular arches. The central nave is covered with rectangular armor of staff file towards the transept and of pair and knuckle towards the feet, joining the skirts with straps decorated with stars and crossheads and supported on Renaissance cannons. His condition is excellent. The side naves are finished off with groin vaults in their first sections and with a barrel vault up to the transept, which is closed in its central section by a hemispherical dome with eight radii, with a lantern and dome. It has interesting altarpieces and sculptures, as well as a curious baptismal font around the central column that supports the choir. Its façade has classical features, with a single tower at the foot of the Gospel side, divided into four bodies, in whose construction the walls of the old minaret existing in that place were used.
