To reach the mark from Exit 311 on I-25 in Laramie, drive southwestward on State Highway 230 for 19 miles. The mark is located 155 feet northwest of the centerline of the highway. It is a USGS cap set on top of a pipe that projects 3 inches feet above the ground. The mark has been hit by machinery in the past and is tilted about 30 degrees towards the southwest; it has also sustained numerous deep scratches/gashes. It appears as if the mark is along the northwest side of a reclaimed area of Highway 230, which has now been moved slightly to the southeast.

The mark is located on publicly accessible Wyoming State Trust land. Parking is available at Sodergreen Lake (N41 09.560 W105 55.780).
