It was in 1937 that George Dietrich built the Dietrich Theater just 20 years after his father, C. Elmer Dietrich, opened the Savoy Theater right across the street. It was on the second floor of the building with a bowling rink on the ground floor. The brand new Dietrich Theater was a modern 481-seat theater with two apartments above it and two commercial spaces on each side.
