1885 - 270 John Street North

This building designed in the vernacular Italianate style is distinguished by its symmetrical facade, cornice brackets and projecting frontispiece. The portico was added at a later date. Built by Journalist George E. Neilson, it later became the home of Arnold Gillies Muirhead of Gillies Brothers Lumber. The first meetings of the Save the Grove campaign were held here.
