En 2013 las setas brotaron en la calle peatonal San Francisco, en pleno centro tradicional de Alicante, estas peculiares setas tenían como objetivo revitalizar la zona y fomentar el turismo y el comercio.
Estos elementos ornamentales en la vía peatonal que une el Portal de Elche con la plaza de Calvo Sotelo se han convertido en una de las postales más populares de la ciudad. Y es que la ahora conocida como "calle de las setas" ha atraído la atención de los turistas y no es extraño encontrarse con personas haciéndose 'selfies' en esta zona.
Ahora estos hongos gigantescos parece que han dado el salto internacional e imágenes captadas en este entorno se han comenzado a compartir en diferentes grupos en redes sociales de Italia, Francia y Estados Unidos, incluso la han rebautizado con el nombre en inglés: "Mushroom Street".
"Me encantaría dar un paseo por esta calle divertida y peculiar. Me pregunto qué criaturas mágicas podríamos encontrarnos bajo las setas", comenta una locutora de radio estadounidense en una publicación con más de 2.000 'me gusta'.
Este lugar parece estár sacado de la mente del escritor Lewis Carroll.
