Wooden sedilia in the chancel of St Giles' church, Great Longstone.

An oak sedilia on the south wall of the chancel. The back is carved with a Star of David and the letter Chi 𝝬, and the headrests have a trefoiled pointed arch design. It is set within the stone sedilia recess below the south chancel window and dates from around 1899-1900. A dedication to Rev. Henry John Longsdon is inscribed on the back. It reads -

TO THE GLORY OF GOD AND IN MEMORY OF THE REVERAND HENRY JOHN LONGSDON MA
BORN AT LITTLE LONGSTONE 11 FEB 1826 VICAR OF SEACROFT 1854 TO 1877 RECTOR OF
KEIGHLEY 1877 TO 1888 RECTOR OF EYAM 1888 TO 1891 DIED AT BAKEWELL 21 DEC 1899
