[FIN] Vapari nimellä tunnettu kallioon louhittu väestönsuoja on aivan Kaarinan kaupungin keskustassa. Sen sisäänpääsy on lähellä palolaitosta.
80-luvun alussa louhitussa väestönsuojassa on tilaa monelle ihmiselle. Sen sisäänkäynnissä on raskaat ovet ja tunneleita on tehty runsaasti. Tilojen rakentaminen luolastoon viivästyi aikoinaan kustannuksien vuoksi ja vasta 80-luvun lopussa se saatiin valmiiksi.
Vapari on monen harrastuspaikka. Useat kerhot ja järjestöt käyttävät tiloja ympäri vuoden vaikkapa liikuntaharrastuksiin.
Suomessa on erittäin suuri määrä väestönsuojia. Ne on merkitty oranssin värisellä neliöllä, jossa on keskellä sininen kolmio. Viranomaiset valvovat niiden kuntoa ja rakentamista.
"Väestönsuoja tulee rakentaa silloin, kun samalla tontilla tai rakennuspaikalla uudisrakennuksen tai -rakennusryhmän koko on vähintään1200 m². Teollisuus- ja muissa niihin rinnastettavissa rakennuksissa vähimmäiskoko on 1500 m². Pelastuslaitos lopputarkastaa uudet väestönsuojat."

[EN] The civil fallout shelter dug into the rock, known as Vapari, is right in the center of the city of Kaarina. Its entrance is near the fire station.
There is room for many people in the civil shelter, which was excavated in the early 80s. Its entrance has heavy doors and plenty of tunnels. The construction of the premises in the cave was once delayed due to costs, and it was not completed until the end of the 80s.
Vapari is a hobby place for many people. Several clubs and organizations use the facilities all year round, for example for sports activities.
Finland has a very large number of Fallout shelters. They are marked with an orange square with a blue triangle in the middle. The authorities monitor their condition and construction.
"A civil fallout shelter must be built when the size of a new building or group of buildings on the same lot or building site is at least 1,200 m². In industrial and other buildings comparable to them, the minimum size is 1,500 m². The Rescue Department will finalize the new population shelters."
