A very large cast bronze plaque mounted within the southeast abutment of Washington Bridge No. 200 in East Providence, Rhode Island, relates the history of bridges which have crossed the Seekonk River at this spot. Accompanying the text are:
- at each corner: a five-pointed star
- at the top / center: a bas relief bust of George Washington within a laurel wreath, a ribbon tied at its bottom and waving outwards horizontally
- at the bottom / center: a bas relief image of a sailboat in rough seas
The text reads:

THIS BRIDGE OPENED FOR TRAFFIC
IN 1930 AND KNOWN AS THE
WASHINGTON BRIDGE OCCUPIES THE
SITE OF A BRIDGE FIRST OPENED
TO TRAFFIC ON APRIL 12th 1793 AND
WHICH CARRIED THE FOLLOWING
INSCRIPTION ON AN ABUTMENT
