Placed nearly a century ago to commemorate Massasoit, a Native American leader from four centuries ago, a cast bronze plaque is mounted to a marble boulder in Barrington, Rhode Island. The monument is beside a pair of evergreen trees on the south side of Rumstick Road where it meets South Meadow Lane. The verdigris marker reads:
