Op mijn verjaardag zijn we naar dit restaurant gegaan. Heel lekker eten en ik kreeg een ijsje met een vuurfontein. Helaas was mijn dochter erg moe en hoewel er van alles te beleven is hier voor kinderen (binnen-speelkamer en buiten-speeltuin) was ze toch overal snel klaar mee. Ook een leuk ambiance binnen met de schoolbankjes.

Napoleon wilde Paleis het Loo beter kunnen bereiken en liet in het begin van de 19e eeuw de straatweg van Amersfoort naar Apeldoorn aanleggen. Er werden een aantal tolhuizen geplaatst, waaronder één op dit kruispunt, Tolhuis no11. Vele paarden met koetsen volgden deze weg en gebruikten de tolhuizen als pleisterplaats. De paarden konden hier met wat hooi en water even bijtanken, net als de passagiers….al zouden zij eerder een neutje nemen!

Tegenover Tol no 11 bouwde de pachter in 1858 een logement, ‘het Lugtje’. Hier kwamen de militairen van de kazerne in Nieuw Milligen een kaartje leggen en een borreltje drinken. Eind 19e eeuw bouwde een nieuwe beheerder, Maarten Zeegers, de zaak verder uit, ook voor gewone passanten. De zaken lipen zo goed dat het een door de ANWB (Algemene Nederlandse Wielrijders Bond) goedgekeurd Bondscafé werd. Er kwam in het café een hulpkist van de ANWB dat gevuld was met gereedschap voor pech onderweg.

Tijdens de Eeste Wereldoorlog , in 1917, brandde de zaak tot de grond toe af. De brandweer kwam wel, maar er was geen water om te blussen. Omdat er in die tijd praktisch geen nieuw hout te koop was, werd er een onbewoonbaar verklaarde villa in Delft gekocht. Deze werd afgebroken en met paard en wagen opgehaald. Samen met de stenen van het afgebrande café, werd het weer opgebouwd tot hotel-café-restaurant Ruimzicht. Het krijgt dan de vorm van hoe het er nu nog steeds uitziet, maar dan met een rieten dak.

On my birthday we went to this restaurant. Very nice food and I got an ice cream with a fire fountain. Unfortunately my daughter was very tired and although there is plenty to do here for children (indoor playroom and outdoor playground) she was quickly done with everything. Also a nice atmosphere inside with the school benches.

Napoleon wanted to be able to reach Het Loo Palace more easily and had the road from Amersfoort to Apeldoorn built at the beginning of the 19th century. A number of toll houses were installed, including one at this intersection, Tolhuis no11. Many horses with carriages followed this road and used the toll houses as a stopping place. The horses could refuel here with some hay and water, just like the passengers… although they would rather take a drink!

Opposite Tol no 11, the tenant built a lodging house in 1858, 'het Lugtje'. Here the soldiers of the barracks in Nieuw Milligen came to lay a card and have a drink. At the end of the 19th century, a new manager, Maarten Zeegers, further expanded the business, also for ordinary passers-by. Business was so good that it became a Bondscafé approved by the ANWB (Algemene Nederlandse Wielwielers Bond). An emergency box from the ANWB was placed in the café, filled with tools for breakdowns on the road.

During World War I, in 1917, the place burned to the ground. The fire brigade came, but there was no water to put out the fire. Because there was practically no new wood for sale at that time, a villa in Delft that had been declared uninhabitable was bought. It was broken down and collected by horse and cart. Together with the stones of the burnt-down café, it was rebuilt into a hotel-café-restaurantruimzicht. It then takes the shape of how it still looks today, but with a thatched roof.
