The article reads: The Abbe Museum in Bar Harbor held its inaugural Abbe Museum Indian Market over the weekend.
Which featured seventy Native American artists and performers from many Nations across the United States and Canada.
The festival also included a fashion show, storytelling, and a film festival which showcased the many forms of Wabanaki art.
Organizers say this type of art is typically unknown in the Northeast, so for the many artists in attendance, events like these are crucial for supporting tribal communities.
"I think it's important to get the word out there that there is Native American art to buy. A lot of people don't know that indigenous people still exist let alone that we are still practicing our traditions and using those to help us survive so I think part of it is getting the world out there and the other part is being able to create a platform for artists to be able to sell their work."
Organizers say they are already planning for next year.
