A double Wrought iron gate that was once used for the entrance of the Saint Thomas Episcopal Church Cemetery. Hancock, MD.

A double wrought iron gate that has been neglected over the recent years. The gates show the work of the early blacksmith of the area. The lower level has 18-20" rods with points atop them. about the center level are circles spanning the width of the gates and the upper leval has longer spiked rods. The gates are approximately 6' high where they meet. Each gate is approximately 3' wide. The posts are squared with fancy caps atop. The latch handle is 12' long with a tapered spiral at the end.

The cemetery dates to the early 1800's.

Enter any comments or observation about this gate.: Cosmetically, there are several coats of paint which hide some of the intricate details and there is a small tree/ shrub growing up through the right-side gate. The iron appears to be solid.
