A plaque on the side on the building tells us -
TOWNHEAD
FACTORY
This factory was built in
1735 as a silk weaving mill.
Ralph Wain, who worked
here, discovered how to
produce a pattern on both
sides of silk materials.
At the apex of the wall is
a pigeon loft used by carrier
pigeons carrying
messages to the silk mills
in Macclesfield.
The building is now a private holiday let.
(If known) Approximately how many pigeonholes in the dovecote?: 5
