The date of its construction is not determined. According to some historians it dates from the sixteenth century and others date it from the seventeenth century. What is known is that over time it was restored and enlarged until it reached its last reform in 1970.

The building has a rectangular plan to which the Portico Tower was added, which rises at the foot of the basilica and is a work of the eighteenth century. The head of the transept dates from the nineteenth century. Inside we can see different polychrome wooden sculptures from the eighteenth century, highlighting among them the images of San Francisco de Asís, the Virgin of Candelaria and a Nazarene. This church denotes the importance and economic relevance that this town had in the eighteenth century.

At the end of the 16th century, a simple rectangular nave was built that was remodeled with later additions, preserving references to the remodeling in the first half of the 17th century.

The transept area and the main chapel are works begun in 1826 and completed at the end of the 19th century. The central nave is covered with a flat roof, the transept with a groin vault and the arms and chancel with half-barrel vaults.

On the outside, the tower-portico stands out with an octagonal finish, with two bodies and six bays.

The entire complex was restored in 1970 and later in 1995. Nave del Evangelio.

In the transept, an image of Saint Francis of Assisi, a polychrome wood sculpture from the end of the 18th century.
