The International Peace Memorial is off the northern edge of the Oudolf Garden on Belle Isle in Detroit. It is near the intersection of Loiter Way and Picnic Way just west of the Anna Scripps Whitcomb Conservatory 4 Inselruhe Ave, Detroit, MI 48207.
The
Memorial is listed in the Smithsonian Art Inventory. There is is describes as:
"The memorial is a rectangular piece of marble with a row of benches along the base. Two circular relief carvings flank the inscription on the south side." The remarks section: "The memorial was built by the Monument Builders of America during their convention in Detroit as a tribute to the friendly relations between the United States and Canada. The monument bears a plaque reading: Restored through the generosity of/the Oliver Dewey Marcks Foundation/In partnership with the Detroit Recreation Department/1999-2000"
It is made of marble and was placed in 1941.
