Public Payphone on the square Unser Lieben Frauen Kirchhof. The telephone box is in the colors gray and pink, a look that originates from the 1990s.

The first German telephone box was put into operation in Berlin in 1881. It did not yet work with coins; anyone who wanted to call had to buy a "phone ticket". From 1899, pay phones appeared and eventually stood in many places. From 1946, yellow was the prescribed color for telephone boxes, which were also considered popular meeting places. The gray and pink color came in the mid-1990s when Telekom took over the phones.
