A famous Singapore official mascot called "Merlion" is located near Suidobashi Station, Tokyo.


The Merlion has its name combines "mer" and "lion".
"Mer" means the sea, representing Singapore's origin as a fishing village called "sea town".
"Lion" comes from the Singapore's original name, Singapura, means "lion city"
