Pomnik psa w miejscowości Pieski brzmi jak żartobliwe nawiązanie do nazwy wsi. Za tym pomnikiem kryje się jednak krótka, wzruszająca historia. Poznajcie Łatka.
"Łatek to łaciaty kundelek, który nie wiadomo skąd pojawił się w Pieskach. Być może się tu przybłąkał, być może ktoś go podrzucił. Wiadomo natomiast, że od razu pokochali go wszyscy, szczególnie strażacy OSP.
Jeździł ze strażakami na akcje. Był jakby dodatkowym druhem. Po pracy, kiedy strażacy padali ze zmęczenia, pies strażak zawsze był obok.
I tak przez kilka lat. Był niczyj, a jednocześnie wszystkich.
Zginął pod kołami samochodu.
Mieszkańcy nie zapomnieli o Łatku. Zrobili zbiórkę i postanowili jakoś zapisać w historii Piesek psa-strażaka. Choć pomniki mają raczej upamiętniać bohaterów i ważne osobistości ten ma wywołać uśmiech na twarzy. I choć OSP w Pieskach już nie działa, pomnik Łatka dumnie stoi przy starej remizie."

The dog monument in the village of Pieski (Doggies) sounds like a humorous reference to the village's name. Behind this monument, however, is a short, touching story. Meet Łatek (Pattek).
"Patch is a spotted mutt, who is unknown how he appeared in Pieski. Perhaps he strayed here, perhaps someone dropped him off. What is known, however, is that he was immediately loved by everyone, especially the TSO firefighters.
He rode with the firefighters on campaigns. He was kind of like an extra squaddie. After work, when the firefighters fell from fatigue, the fire dog was always next to them.
And so for several years. He was nobody's and everybody's at the same time.
He died under the wheels of a car.
Residents did not forget about Łatek. They made a collection and decided to somehow record the fire dog in history. Although memorials tend to commemorate heroes and important personalities this one is meant to make people smile. And although the Piesek TSO is no longer in operation, the monument to Patch proudly stands by the old firehouse."
